Welcome to the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation for the State of Michigan

On February 1, 2008, Governor Granholm signed Executive Order 2008-01.

The order reorganized the Office of Financial and Insurance Services (OFIS), and changed the official name to the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR). The order went into effect April 6, 2008 at 12:01 a.m. Documents posted on this website may bear either name in headings or text, before or after the effective date of the order, and are to be used interchangeably as they pertain to the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) and its predecessor organization, the Office of Financial and Insurance Services (OFIS).

Effective December 28, 2008, the Department of Labor and Economic Growth became the Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth or DELEG.
